Asthma is chronic inflammatory disease of respiratory ways. This inflammation causes repeating fits of coughing, hoarseness. There is a feeling of pressure in chest, breath is complicated. The inflammation makes respiratory path sensitive to allergens, chemical irritants , to smoke, cold air and physical exercises. These factors cause hypostasis and spasm of the respiratory ways and increase formation of mucus. The breath becomes hard and sensitive to external influence.

Flovent, generic name fluticasone, is a preparation which is used to effectively prevent asthma attack. Flovent has anti-inflammatory and antiallergic effect. It is prescribed for bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis treatment.

Flovent can be taken alone or in combination with other preparations to prevent asthma attacks (for both children (age 4 years and older) and adults).

Flovent has effective anti-inflammatory and antiallergic effect, it promotes reduction of symptoms, frequencies and heaviness of the diseases connected with respiratory obstruction (bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis). System action of this preparation is expressed minimally: it does not influence hypophysial system and adrenal gland (in therapeutic dozes).

Flovent reduces such symptoms as:

Cough,heaviness in thorax, hardness of breath.

To achieve the maximal medical effect of a preparation it is necessary to take flovent within 1-2 weeks.

Important information about flovent:

Flovent will not treat asthma attack that has already begun. For a fast stop of asthma attack it is necessary to use preparations of fast action, such as Proventil or Ventolin

Dosage of Flovent:

This medication is inhaled into the lungs with the help of special inhaling device. The inhaler sprays preparation through the mouth into the lungs.

Usually 2 inhalations a day are prescribed.

Flovent should be taken every day, even if you are not having any symptoms.

Flovent is a steroid, the increase in preparation dosage can cause the following side-effects:

· headache;

· dryness in mouth or throat;

· stuffy nose;

· hoarseness, coughing, throat irritation;

· loss of taste, or unpleasant taste;

· chest pain;

· skin rash and itching;

· weakness or tiredness.
